A JOURNEY THROUGH ITALY

WHAT TO

Sip: Aperol Spritz

Noteworthy App: TheFork

Capri is a love letter to the senses. Its allure unfolds in narrow streets where cars give way to golf carts, and the scent of lemons fills the air. Our stay at Casa Morgano offered an elegant retreat, a serene counterpoint to the island’s vibrant energy. We dined under a canopy of citrus at Paolino Capri and savored rustic flavors at Da Gelsomina in Anacapri. Days stretched luxuriously at the Fontelina Beach Club, sipping Aperol Spritzes on the water’s edge, the horizon dotted with sleek yachts. Capri is everything an Italian escape promises and more.

Florence exudes timeless beauty, a city where every corner reveals another masterpiece. Our flat near the Palazzo Pitti offered a glimpse into everyday Italian life. Mornings began at Café Gilli, watching the city come alive in the Piazza della Repubblica. The bridges, especially the iconic Ponte Vecchio, glowed at sunset. At Carolina Bucci’s jewel box store, I discovered treasures whose craftsmanship echoed the city’s artistry. A highlight was dining at Osteria Pastella, where truffle pasta is both a culinary and theatrical delight, prepared tableside in an intimate setting.

We also visited the Gucci Gardens and Museum.

Perused the Uffizi Galleries to see treasures of the art world, including The Birth of Venus by Botteccilli.

We did an amazing cooking class in the former home of the Mona Lisa Family.

And dinned at La Gisotra Restaurant with all of the twinkle lights on the ceiling.

Venice feels like stepping into a dreamscape of water and light. We marked our anniversary at Cip’s Club, where every detail—from the views to the food—felt like poetry. Drinks at Hotel Cipriani immersed us in the city’s glamour, its piano bar echoing with timeless melodies. For a touch of Venetian history, we visited Nardi, marveling at their vintage jewelry. Every canal, every gondola ride carried a sense of enchantment, leaving us spellbound by Venice’s enduring romance.

Siena’s heartbeat is its traditions, none more captivating than the Palio di Siena, a historic horse race that unites its Contrada neighborhoods in vibrant celebration. The city’s medieval beauty is a backdrop to this timeless spectacle. Beyond the square, our day at Tenuta Torciano was an indulgence of the senses—wine tastings, olive oils, and a family-style lunch that celebrated Tuscany’s rich bounty. It’s a place where time slows, and every bite tells a story.

Rome invites you to revel in its grandeur, from the opulence of the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi to the iconic Trevi Fountain, where wishes are cast into the water. The Villa Borghese Gardens offered a quiet retreat, while dinner at Aroma became a memory etched in golden light—a view of the Colosseum framed by storm-cleared skies. Yet it was the unassuming charm of Ivo a Trastevere that lingered most. The Pataosa pizza—mozzarella, potatoes, sausage—felt like the city itself: layered, comforting, unforgettable.

Italy, in all its splendor, invites you to savor, pause, and fall in love over and over again.
